For the record, this is one of those rare comics that is almost verbatim from its source material. I despise having to repeat myself, and would love nothing more than to enforce this space you now gaze upon as required reading before conversing with me. Though I suppose saying so is a little like showing anti-piracy advertisements in theatres, so I am happy to move on.
CNN is a news agency known to me primarily for their poor research, insipid talking heads and infinite capacity for just not getting it. Lately they seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for wholly irrelevant tripe to distract the American people with while an undeclared war rages on. Picking on adult games from Japan is an easy way to whip parents into a froth, I suppose, even if they are several years old and entirely irrelevant.
Now at this point I generally feel much frustration at the lack of an equally public forum in which to contradict them, which is why when I see their own invited expert setting them straight, I find it immensely satisfying.
But despite myself, what I really take away from all of this is that there was a game developer somewhere out there who needed a minor media controversy to decide that a game entitled “Slave Maiden’s Rape Hell” was in poor taste. I find the inner workings of such a mind completely unfathomable.
Ja.
