For the record, I don’t full understand the ultimate frisbee crowd. The game always struck me as being analogous with indie rock, where if it were officially recognized as an olympic sport, or worse yet a varsity-team-jacket sport it’d be robbed of all of it’s charm. There’s something noble about a sport that doesn’t have parents driving around miniature players in their minivans and arguing with referees and team coaches alike.
Should my reasoning seem tangental or incomplete, know then that it is very late at night and it’s been a very long week, and I have no plans for coherence in the near future.
Just got back from an evening screening of Kick-Ass, though. A thoroughly enjoyable film, even if it does completely lose grip on it’s premise by it’s conclusion. I have read of the comic, and was expecting something far more cynical, and thankfully this was not the case.
Danielle pointed out to me that the title text was very similar to that which could be found on the poster for Watchmen, another comic-slash-superhero movie sharing some of the same thematic content. Mulling over this I considered that the choice of font and color might have been an attempt at satire. I find it much more likely that big yellow text is the new big red text.
Ja.
